Storytelling Boosts Sales

Tell Stories & You’ll Boost Sales (Because of How Human Brains Are Wired) | Inc.com explains why storytelling boosts sales.  This article provides another example of how storytelling is important to business and being successful.  Geil Browning begins this piece by telling a story of how her company started and by doing so demonstrates the value and impact of telling a story.  The story of her company and how she got to where she is draws the reader in.  Then she explains that stories are so effective because of how the brain functions.  She writes “[o]ur brains desire narrative continuity, which draws us to stories.”  Geil then provides five storytelling tips.

  1. Simplicity Rules
  2. Be Holistic
  3. Interactivity is Essential
  4. Authenticity, Authenticity, Authenticity
  5. A Narrative Has a Beginning, Middle, and End

She explains more about these helpful tips.  I have enjoyed a number of pieces by Geil Browning including “10 Ways to Rejuvenate Your Brain While You Work” and “Eight Ways to Keep Your Brain Innovative“.  See more of what she’s written at Your Brain At Work.
